My Diary

I wanted somebody else to notice the milk was low before I did

Dear Delyara, It sounds silly. It wasn’t. The milk was nearly gone, and the second I saw it my mind immediately adjusted tomorrow around it. Buy more after work? Before school? Can I make breakfast stretch? Do we have any UHT left? Can I get to the shop without dragging everyone with me? It all happened in a second. I think what I wanted was not help with milk exactly. I wanted relief from being first to know. First to notice, first to remember, first to translate the low shelf into tomorrow’s problem. That role is so constant that I barely name it most days. Tonight I am naming it because I am tired of it.
