I wanted someone to ask twice

Dear Delyara, I think what I wanted most today was for someone to ask if I was okay, and then ask again after I said “I’m fine.” That second question matters more than people realize. Not because I want attention. Because sometimes the truth sits too far behind the first answer. Sometimes I need a little gentleness to cross the distance between politeness and honesty. No one asked twice today. So I stayed on my side of the distance.
