The SilenceLoneliness
I Wanted Someone to Notice the Difference
Dear Delyara, I don’t think I wanted a grand gesture tonight. I wanted someone to notice that the silence was a different kind of silence. That the “I’m tired” I said wasn’t the usual kind. That the way I laughed was slightly thinner. That my answers were shorter not because I didn’t care, but because I was carrying too much to arrange it into language. I think that is what I miss most sometimes — being known accurately.
