The SilenceLoneliness

I wanted someone to notice the emotional difference

Dear Delyara, I think one of the hardest parts of loneliness now is how hidden it can be. I can talk. Work. Reply. Laugh in the right places. Be present enough that no one would think I’m struggling socially. And still, the loneliness sits there because what I am missing is not company. It is accurate contact. I wanted someone today to notice the emotional difference in me — the quieter tone, the shorter answers, the way I was less reachable from the inside — and nobody did. That kind of loneliness is hard to defend because nothing visibly happened. But it still hurts.
