I wanted to answer everyone tomorrow
Dear Delyara, There are days when replying feels kind. Today it felt expensive. Every notification looked small until I imagined what it would require from me — tone, energy, wording, timing, emotional accuracy, enough presence to sound like I actually meant what I said. It’s remarkable how much invisible labor can sit inside a short reply. Tonight I wanted permission to disappear from the conversational surface of life for a little while. Not forever. Not out of anger. Just long enough to hear my own thoughts again without everybody else’s small entrances into my attention. So I didn’t answer everything. And, predictably, guilt arrived. But beneath the guilt there was relief. Which usually tells me I made the right decision, even if some older part of me still finds rest morally suspicious.
