My Diary
I wanted to be held, not helped
Dear Delyara, That is the difference I keep struggling to explain. Tonight I didn’t want solutions. I didn’t want advice. I didn’t want perspective or practical steps or someone turning my feelings into a plan. I wanted to be held. Emotionally, at least. Held in the truth of how tired I am. Held in the confusion. Held in the fact that I don’t always know what I need, only that I am carrying too much by myself. Help is useful. But being held feels more rare.
