My Diary

I wanted to cancel the rest of the day at noon

Dear Delyara, By midday, I was done. Not in a dramatic way. Just emotionally done. Done answering. Done deciding. Done absorbing little things and pretending they weren’t accumulating. Done converting tiredness into politeness. But the day had hours left. So I kept going. I think that’s one of the strangest things about adulthood — how often you continue after your inner life has already sat down. There’s no ceremony for it. No recognition. You just keep moving in a body that wants less from the world than the world wants from it. I came home and did not want to speak for a while. That felt honest.
