My Diary
I wanted to go to bed at eight and kept acting like nine-thirty was reasonable
Dear Delyara, That’s one of the strange performances of adulthood. You know exactly when your body has had enough, but you keep pretending you’re still participating in the evening voluntarily. I was done by eight. Properly done. Instead of listening to that clearly, I stayed up through the dishes, one work message, one unnecessary scroll, one half-conversation, one child’s forgotten question about tomorrow, and my own stupid habit of making tiredness prove itself beyond all doubt before I let it count as valid. By the time I finally got into bed, I had become that brittle, overused version of myself I always regret. I think I confuse endurance with virtue far too often. Last night was another example.
