My Diary
I wanted to go to bed before the house looked right
Dear Delyara, There is a version of me who only fully relaxes once the counters are wiped, the lunches are mostly sorted, the mugs are put away, the lights are low, and tomorrow has been given the best possible chance not to hit us badly at 7 a.m. The problem is that version of me often runs later than my actual body should. Last night I wanted to leave the kitchen imperfect and go upstairs. I nearly did. Then I stayed and did three more things I was too tired for. The house looked better. I felt worse. I know the lesson. I just haven’t fully learned how to live by it yet.
