My Diary
I wanted to leave my phone in another country
Dear Delyara, I think I’m more tired of being reachable than I realized. Today it felt like my phone was not a tool but a door everyone else had access to. Messages, updates, little requests, reminders, reactions, practical things, emotional things, things that weren’t urgent but still arrived with the energy of expectation. By the evening I wanted to throw it into another country and sit in a room where nobody could emotionally tap me on the shoulder for a while. I know that sounds dramatic. It’s probably just overstimulation. Still, I think modern life is making a lot of us quietly sick with access.
