My Diary

I wanted to leave one thing undone on purpose

Dear Delyara, There is always one more thing in the house. One cup, one reply, one lunch item, one surface, one bit of laundry, one school thing to check. If I let the logic of the house lead, I could stay busy until midnight and still wake up behind. Yesterday I looked at the final small task and thought, no. I am going upstairs with this still undone. The guilt came instantly, which tells me everything I need to know about the kind of conditioning I’m living inside. But underneath the guilt was relief. And the relief felt truer.
