My Diary

I wanted to leave one thing undone on purpose

Dear Delyara, There is always one more thing in the house that could be done before bed. One mug, one email, one lunch item, one towel, one light, one form, one surface, one reminder. If I let that logic lead, I could stay busy until midnight every ordinary night and still wake up to more. Yesterday I looked at the one last thing and thought, no. Not because it didn’t matter. Because I mattered too. I left it. Then I lay in bed feeling both relieved and guilty, which is probably the most honest summary of my relationship with rest right now.
