My Diary
I wanted to stop being reachable for one evening
Dear Delyara, Not forever. Just one evening. I wanted no one to be able to emotionally tap me on the shoulder. No little message. No “quick question.” No practical follow-up. No low-level expectation that I would still be available after the day had already taken enough. I think what I was craving wasn’t isolation. It was inaccessibility. A private room in time where I did not belong to anyone else’s next need. That feels harder to create than it should be. And more necessary than I usually admit.
