My Diary

I wanted to stop sounding fine out of habit

Dear Delyara, The word comes too easily. Fine. It opens no doors. It asks nothing. It carries just enough truth to feel safe and just enough vagueness to avoid the effort of actual honesty. I use it more when I’m low, which is probably not an accident. Tonight I realized how much of my loneliness may be built from words like that. Convenient words. Social words. Words that protect me and erase me at the same time. I don’t know how to stop quickly. But I noticed. And that’s where it starts, I think.
