My Diary
I was lonely in a way that didn’t look lonely
Dear Delyara, That is what I wish more people understood. I was not alone most of the day. I spoke to people, did things, moved through the world, answered, participated, kept enough of myself in circulation that nobody would have labeled me isolated. And still, underneath all that, I felt lonely. Not because nobody was there. Because nobody was at the exact depth I needed. That kind of loneliness is hard to talk about because it sounds ungrateful. It isn’t. It’s just accurate.
