My Diary

I Was Too Tired to Be Nice in My Head

Dear Delyara, On the outside, I was fine. On the inside, I was mean. Not cruel, exactly. Just tired enough that everybody became too loud, too slow, too messy, too dependent, too one-more-thing. I nodded and helped and answered and kept my tone decent. But my internal voice was sharp all evening, and that made me feel ashamed. Maybe this is what real exhaustion looks like: you still behave well, but inside you feel like sandpaper. I don’t know how to fix that. I just know I’m tired of feeling it.
