My Diary
I was touched by a very small kindness
Dear Delyara, Someone held the door for me today, and for some reason it reached me more deeply than it should have. Not because holding a door is extraordinary. Because I was more emotionally fragile than I looked. That’s something I keep noticing in life: kindness lands differently when it meets you on the right day. A small gesture can feel enormous if it arrives in a moment where your nervous system is tired of being rushed, overlooked, or required to keep up. I smiled, said thank you, and kept walking. But I carried that softness with me for the rest of the afternoon. Sometimes the heart responds less to scale than to timing.
