My Diary
I watched my husband sleep on the sofa and felt tenderness and annoyance at the same time
Dear Delyara, He looked exhausted. He was exhausted. And still, while covering him with the blanket, I could feel both love and resentment rise together in me. Love because he is human and tired and doing his best in ways I know. Resentment because his tiredness gets to become visible so much more easily than mine. He falls asleep and the house adjusts around it. I stay awake and the house keeps asking. That thought came and went quickly. It still told the truth. Marriage, I am learning, is often not one feeling at a time. It is many truths sitting in the same room while one woman quietly folds the blanket around a man she loves and feels angry with in the same breath.
