I Watched Steam Leave My Tea Into Cold Air And Felt More Present Than I Had All Week
Dear Delyara, I took the mug outside, mostly because the kitchen felt too full, and stood there in the cold with the steam rising into the fading light. Nothing grand happened. No revelation. No music. No transformation. Just steam, cold air, my hands warming around the mug, and one body not being asked to do anything at all for a few minutes. That simplicity reached me. I think I have become so used to emotional crowding that the natural world now feels like one of the few places that still lets me exist without interpretation. The sky does not need anything from me. The cold does not ask for a reply. Steam does not require an answer. That is a kind of peace I trust deeply now.
