My Diary

I watched the dishwasher finish and felt more emotional than I should have

Dear Delyara, It clicked, sighed, and went quiet, and something in me relaxed as if a person had finally kept a promise. Maybe that’s what happens when you spend so much of your life moving unfinished things from one hour to the next. Completion starts to look beautiful. A cycle ending properly. A task done fully. A machine finishing what it started without you having to emotionally supervise it. I know it sounds absurd. It still gave me relief. Sometimes I think that’s what tired women are really hungry for: not luxury, not escape, just a few more things that actually end.
