My Diary
I watched the kettle boil and felt more comforted than I have by most conversations lately
Dear Delyara, Because the kettle only does one thing. It doesn’t carry tone. It doesn’t contain hidden meaning. It doesn’t need emotional interpretation. It doesn’t ask me to soften myself or explain anything. It just boils. I stood there in the kitchen listening to that one steady sound and realised how much of my life now is made difficult by complexity — financial complexity, emotional complexity, relational complexity, the complexity of everybody needing something at once. No wonder a kettle can feel like peace. It finishes what it starts.
