I went back to the gym and let “less than before” still count as success
Dear Delyara, That was the real challenge. Not going back. Going back without punishing myself for what has changed. I lifted less. Lasted less. Needed longer breaks. Felt more self-conscious than I wanted to admit. But I also stayed. I moved. I did not turn the gap between who I was and who I am now into an excuse to leave before the body had a chance to feel even slightly more alive. I think health gets healthier when it stops demanding nostalgia as proof. I came home tired but not ashamed. That felt new.
