I went for the scan even though I was afraid of what calm they might use to tell me bad news

Dear Delyara, Not just illness itself. The calmness of medical people. The soft, neutral voice they use when saying things that can split a life in two. I had built so much around that fear that getting to the appointment felt like dragging myself through a room full of invisible resistance. But I went. I checked in, sat down, answered the questions, lay still when they told me to, and let the process happen. I did not run from the possibility just because my mind had made it cinematic. That matters to me. Sometimes courage is not a big speech. It is showing up to the thing your imagination has already turned into a monster and letting reality be smaller or larger on its own terms.
