I went in even though I wanted to turn around

Dear Delyara, It was only an appointment. It felt much bigger. I sat in the car outside for a minute genuinely considering leaving. My chest was tight, my hands were cold, and every part of me wanted to postpone, reschedule, avoid, become suddenly too busy to face it. I knew that if I drove away, I could make the excuse sound perfectly reasonable later. Instead I got out. I went in, sat down, stayed, answered the questions, and came back out feeling shaky but proud in a very quiet way. No one in that building knew what it had cost me just to walk through the door. I knew. That is enough.
