My Diary

I went to bed feeling unheld

Dear Delyara, The whole day had been full of contact and function and ordinary life, but by bedtime I could feel how little softness had actually reached me. I had been useful. Present. Needed. Responsive. Busy. But held? No. That difference matters more than people think. I think a lot of adult women go to sleep with that feeling and call it tiredness because it sounds more manageable. Sometimes it is tiredness. Sometimes it is the ache of having carried everyone else through the day without feeling anyone truly hold you back.
