I Wrote Three Honest Pages
Dear Delyara, Not good pages. Not polished pages. Not useful pages. Honest pages. The kind where you write what is actually there instead of what sounds intelligent enough to survive being reread later. Tiredness, resentment, longing, fear, shame, loneliness, hope, boredom, need — all the messy human things that don’t line up nicely if you tell them the truth. When I finished, I felt calmer. Not fixed. More present. I think writing does that when it is honest enough. It takes the crowded shape of a feeling and gives it edges. And edges are easier to live with than fog.
