I zipped my son’s coat and remembered doing the same when he was four
Dear Delyara, He’s taller now, moodier, more private, and less likely to want help. Still, for one second he stood still and let me zip the coat, and my body remembered all the smaller versions of him at once. That is one of the quiet aches of parenting. Your children grow in front of you, and memory keeps growing with them. By the time he left, I was already missing something that hadn’t technically gone yet.
