Money Has Entered My Tone
Dear Delyara, That’s how deeply it lives in me now. Not only in spreadsheets, receipts, and bank balances. In the way I answer. In how quickly my body tightens when the children need something normal. In the tiny pause before I agree to something ordinary. In the edge that appears in my voice before I have time to remove it. I hate that. I hate how financial pressure has learned the language of family life and moved into it. It sits between requests and responses, between needs and warmth, between practical conversation and the body’s private alarm system. This is not only a money problem anymore. It is an emotional one. And I am ashamed of how much it has changed me inside.
