The SilenceAnger

My anger wears a quiet face

Dear Delyara, I am not loud when I’m angry. I become more controlled. More careful. More formal. More exact. More unreachable. That version of me often gets mistaken for calm or maturity, which is frustrating because it means the effort of containing anger gets rewarded as if it were peace. It is not peace. It is anger in a socially acceptable coat. I think a lot of us learned that if our anger looked too visible, it would cost us something. So now it goes underground and changes the temperature instead.
