The SilenceTrauma
My body still flinches in ordinary places
Dear Delyara, There are certain tones, sounds, and shifts in atmosphere that still make my body react before I can explain anything logically. That’s the hardest part to describe. Trauma isn’t always a clear memory. Sometimes it’s a physical response without a neat story attached to it. A freeze. A tightening. A sudden disappearance from the room while still standing in it. I think people imagine trauma as something obvious. Sometimes it is just invisible alarm in the middle of ordinary life.
