My child brought me the blanket without me asking
Dear Delyara, I was sitting there looking tired enough that apparently even a child could read it, and before I said a word, she went and got the soft blanket from the other room and put it over my knees like it was the most obvious thing in the world. No fuss. No speech. No “what’s wrong?” Just care. I think the reason that kind of moment hits so hard is because I spend so much of my life anticipating other people’s needs before they speak them. To be met that way myself, even in a small domestic form, feels almost overwhelming sometimes. It made me feel deeply loved. And very tired. And grateful in a way that hurt a little.
