My daughter defended me when I was too tired to defend myself

Dear Delyara, We were at my mother’s house, and one of those little family comments was made — the kind that sounds harmless but lands like a pin if you’ve lived with it your whole life. I opened my mouth to brush it off the way I usually do, and before I could, my daughter said, “Mum does loads, actually.” She said it so simply. No speech. No drama. Just truth.
