My daughter saw I was low and put her drawing beside my mug without saying anything
Dear Delyara, It was a drawing of me with huge hair and a pink jumper I do not own, standing in front of a house with very optimistic windows. She didn’t hand it to me like a presentation. She just placed it next to my tea and wandered off again. That quietness made me emotional. There are forms of love that arrive without commentary, and I think children are often brilliant at them when they are not busy being chaos in socks. She noticed something in me, chose tenderness, and didn’t require me to respond perfectly to it. I stared at the drawing longer than I needed to. It did something good.
