My Diary
My daughter wanted me to watch a video and I couldn’t hide how tired I was
Dear Delyara, She had that bright face children get when they can’t wait to show you something. Normally I can meet that energy more easily. Yesterday I couldn’t. I watched the video, smiled, said the right things, but I could hear the flatness in my own voice. She looked at me for a second longer than usual and said, “You’re really tired, aren’t you?” I said yes. And somehow that felt better than pretending. I think one of the most humbling things about motherhood is how often children notice the truth long before you have arranged it into a tidy adult sentence.
