GratitudeFriendship
My friend did not make my sadness awkward
Dear Delyara, That is one of the kindest things anyone can do. I was low this week, and a friend stayed close without making the room uncomfortable because of it. No rushed positivity, no forced lightness, no over-seriousness either. Just enough warmth and ordinary presence that I could remain human in the feeling without becoming a problem to be solved. I think emotional intelligence is often this simple: knowing how not to make someone regret being real near you. I am very grateful for that kind of friendship.
