My friend texted, “No need to reply, just thinking of you,” and I nearly cried

Dear Delyara, I think the sentence itself was what got me. No need to reply. That felt like real care. Not only affection, but sensitivity to capacity. She wanted me to know I was in her mind, but she didn’t turn her kindness into another thing I had to manage or answer or do properly. She left it as a gift, not an assignment. So many people don’t understand how heavy “kindness” can become when it arrives demanding energy back. She did. And because she did, her message landed in the gentlest possible way.
