My husband is kinder after I asked for a divorce

Dear Delyara, For years, I begged my husband to notice how unhappy I was. I asked for counselling, help with the children, one evening a week where we spoke about something other than bills. He always said work was stressful and things would improve later. Three months ago, I said I wanted a divorce. Since then, he has become the man I spent years asking for. He makes dinner. He listens. He booked therapy himself. He leaves notes in my lunch bag and takes the children out so I can rest. Every kindness hurts because it proves he was capable of these things. He says fear of losing me woke him up. Friends tell me perhaps this is the change I wanted. I cannot tell whether staying would reward genuine growth or teach him that I must reach the door before my needs become real. Last night, he brought me tea exactly the way I like it and sat beside me without speaking. I wanted to lean against him. I also wanted to throw the cup. Love has returned at the exact moment I stopped trusting its timing.
