My husband spent the money for my course
Dear Delyara, I saved for two years to complete a professional course that would qualify me for better-paid work. I put aside small amounts from groceries, overtime, and birthday money. Yesterday, when I tried to pay the enrolment fee, the savings account was empty. My husband admitted he used it to cover gambling debts. He cried, apologised, and said he intended to replace the money before I noticed. The course begins next month. Applications will not open again for a year. He keeps saying the loss is temporary, but it is not only money. I studied at night, arranged childcare, and persuaded myself that wanting a career was not selfish. The account represented an exit from work that has made me feel invisible for twelve years. Now every sacrifice has been converted into bets I never placed. My husband has contacted a gambling service and surrendered his bank cards to me. Everyone would call that progress. I cannot look at him without seeing the empty account. He did not simply spend our savings. He took the version of me who was almost ready to begin and told her to wait again.
