My Mother Is Still in My Head
Dear Delyara, She didn’t say anything to me today, and still I heard her. That’s what growing up with certain kinds of criticism does. It outlives the room. I can still hear the old corrections, even in silence. I wonder how many of my thoughts are really mine.
