My son asked for my recipe before he leaves for university
Dear Delyara, It was just pasta bake. That’s what made me cry. Out of everything he could take from this house into the next version of his life, he wants the way I make pasta bake. The exact one, with “not too much onion” and the cheese mixed through, not only on top. He said, “Write it down properly because I don’t want the canteen one to become my whole personality.” I laughed so hard at that. Then I wrote the recipe. It felt like one of those quiet motherhood victories that nobody warns you will matter this much — realising that your ordinary care has become part of your child’s future language for comfort.
