My son asked if I wanted the better blanket before taking it for himself

Dear Delyara, Teenagers are not known for pausing before comfort. They are usually all need and speed and appetite and noise and whatever has happened in the last ten minutes. So when he held the blanket and actually asked me first, I felt seen in a way the object itself didn’t remotely justify. I said he could have it. What mattered was the question. The gesture reminded me that care does circle back sometimes, even if motherhood can make it feel one-way on the hardest weeks.
