My son brought me water without being asked

Dear Delyara, I was on the sofa with that drained, headachy kind of tiredness that makes even asking for something feel like extra work. He passed through the room, looked at me once, came back a minute later with a glass of water, and put it beside me without making a big deal of it. That simple act nearly made me cry. Not because of the water itself. Because being cared for before speaking is one of the deepest kinds of relief in my life now. Especially in a house where I am so often the one predicting everyone else’s needs. It was such a small gesture. It landed in such a large place.
