My son put the kettle on before asking what was wrong
Dear Delyara, That sequence touched me more than he knows. Usually people ask first. They want the explanation, the emotional map, the answer, the reason. He must have seen something in my face because he just said, “Do you want tea?” and put the kettle on before I had to become articulate. That felt like being cared for in a language my tiredness could actually receive. I’m not saying it solved anything. I am saying I nearly cried over the sound of the kettle because it meant I was being met before being translated.
