My son turned the volume down without me asking

Dear Delyara, I came into the room tired, and he looked at my face once and quietly lowered the television. No speech, no joke, no dramatic “You look stressed, Mum,” just one small adjustment made out of consideration. That is what moved me. Not the volume itself. The noticing. I think one of the hidden hopes of motherhood is that years of invisible care will eventually return in the form of thoughtfulness. Not always. Not perfectly. But sometimes, in moments like that, it does. And when it does, I feel it deeply.
