One bank notification can still change the whole emotional weather of my day
Dear Delyara, Not because I’m irresponsible. Because I am tired of how quickly money reaches into everything. I can be having a relatively stable morning and then see one message from the bank — not even terrible news, sometimes just a reminder or a payment going out — and suddenly the day narrows. The possibilities narrow. Softness sounds less affordable. The body starts acting as if some private alarm has gone off and now the rest of the day must be lived under that sound. What I resent most is how much financial stress colonises unrelated parts of life. It gets into appetite, tone, sleep, marriage, patience, even enjoyment. A simple outing with the children can start feeling morally loaded if money is already sitting in the room. I want numbers to become numbers again. Instead they still arrive with emotion attached.
