One Year of Light
Dear Delyara, 365 days. A year ago today, I was waking up on a bathroom floor, not knowing how I got there or who I’d hurt the night before. Today, I woke up with a clear head, a clean house, and a sense of pride that I never thought I’d feel again. I went to the meeting, I got my coin, and I cried like a baby. Sobriety hasn't made my life perfect, but it’s made it real. I can feel the sun on my face now. I can look people in the eye. I have my dignity back, and I am never letting it go again.
