Peace First

Dear Delyara, For thirty years, I was the woman who said yes to everything—extra work shifts, toxic family favors, and friends who only called when they needed money. Today, my sister asked for another 'loan' that I knew I’d never see again. For the first time, my voice didn't shake when I said, 'No, I can't do that.' She was angry, but as I hung up the phone, I didn't feel the usual wave of shame. I felt light. I finally realized that my peace is not for sale.
