Dear Delyara, That question alone felt like kindness. Not “Are you okay?” in the polite empty sense. Not immediate advice. Not emotional crowding disguised as care. She asked, “Do you want company, food, distraction, or quiet?” I had to stop and think because I am so used to people offering the version of help that makes sense to them. This felt different. It made me feel like my actual state mattered. I said quiet tonight, maybe food tomorrow. She said, “Done.” That felt safe. And safety in friendship means more to me now than dramatic loyalty ever did.
