She Let Me Keep My Dignity

Dear Delyara, One of the kindest moments I’ve had recently was not dramatic at all. Someone helped me in a slightly embarrassing moment and did it in a way that preserved my dignity. That is rarer than people realize. Some kindness can feel exposing. This didn’t. It was light. Human. Unforced. Almost elegant in its softness. I think what moved me most was not the help itself, but the absence of pity in it.
