The WeightPast Wounds
Some of my most ordinary struggles still arrive in me with shame attached
Dear Delyara, Being tired. Needing space. Falling behind on messages. Struggling with money. Losing patience. Not wanting company. Forgetting things. Needing help. Wanting softer treatment. Feeling low for reasons that are not dramatic enough to explain easily. So many of these are deeply human states. Still, shame gets there first far more often than compassion. I think that’s what I’m trying to untangle in my life now — not only the difficulties themselves, but the unnecessary humiliation I keep stitching onto them. Some days it feels like half my work is simply separating being human from being guilty about it.
